I NEED SOME INPUT.
IS THERE A NEED FOR A OUTSIDE TRACK AT GREENEVILLE?
IS THERE ENOUGH RACERS TO WARRANT ONE WITH LAIL AND CW?
I KNOW A INVESTMENT LIKE THIS WONT PAY FOR ITSELF IN A COUPLE OF YEARS BUT I NEED TO KNOW IF THERE IS A NEED AND PEOPLE WILLING TO RUN ON A REGULAR BASIC.
I KNOW BMS GOT DOWN TO 12-15 PEOPLE ON A WEEKLY BASIS.
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.
AS ALWAYS I APPRECIATE IT.

Thats a tough question that I would be afraid to comment on. Hacksaw started out slow at MSA (outside) & gradually had a descent crowd but to build one & try to come out? ?? I know alot of racers who would say yea I'll be there and never darken your door so be cautious before making the investment. Caleb & I will probably race Lail's & C&W this outdoor season unless other opportuniies arise.

I'm sure that I would come and try it out but, Lail is only 20 minutes from my house.

Well that would be a hard thing to say , I know with the rising gas prices it will make it hard for me to travel long distance , Since Lail's is just in my back yard too ;D ;D

I will be at Lail for the most part and making a trip to other tracks like C&W every now and again but not weekly. Lail is 35 min from me and that makes a huge difference to me also. I would definately come a couple times but just can't say how much more than that.

Alan, as we've talked. I belive you would get a decent turnout from the BMS regulars. Lails will be getting a good turnout weekly because of MSA closing & several new racers they got at the end of last summer. I'm in between the two tracks. 45 min. to Greenville & 1hr. 15min. to Lails. The drive to C&W is 1hr. 45min. fo me. I try every year to support tracks close to me & I would do all I could for your's too. What we all need to do is, try to get some new racers in this area. I also think the rumors about BMS & the closing of the hobby shop really hurt Dales weekly crowd last year. I guess I'm like most, I'd hate to say build it & not get a good turnout. But, I'd sure like to see you build one too!

Alan, I can tell ya that an outdoor track would be great for the locals. As you know, I was a weekly racer at BMS and have pavement in my bones. Sure, the faces on a weekly basis would be different from the winter carpet crowd since many have alternative tracks closer, but the BMS racers added back to the mix would probably make up for it. One of the issues at BMS last year was more towards the later part of the season when news was out that BMS was questionable, and the weekly crowd that was not interested in the ROAR nats started stepping out. Big races have plus and minus effects on weekly shows, as you probably have experienced at Greenville. It all boils down to the "fun" factor of the track and the racers for weekly races in my opinion. In 21 turn at BMS, we usually had four heats of racers alone on a weekly basis. I believe if you look at the potential local crowd, which should not be too hard to come up with a list, then you may have enough info to determine if the investment is worthwhile. Hey, why not lease the BMS track? So you have my vote, and know that Hollywood will indeed darken the door at a paved oval. I will say that the sooner you know the better since BMS racers are "re-aligning"themselves with the season and the hobby in general. (Just my 2 cents. Perhaps worth less LOL) What ever you decide, I appreciate that you are considering the option! Herb

Make it a Saturday Night Bull- Ring type of track. Cheaper to build and keep up, small tracks are very interesting but challenging at the same time. At any rate if its small then I might be able to catch up to Hollywood ! If you build it they will come ? I think so, but make it fun !

An indoor medium banked tri-oval. Just think, concrete all year long, nobody can do that around here.

Alan , I agree with hollywood. A track about the size of the old abingdon ,VA track would be great or any track for that matter...There are only so many car shows to enter..and I,m getting really bored. Like herb said there was almost always 4-5 heats of super spec, and there used to be 2-3 heats of reg. spec. till somebody who remain nameless changed the body rule to trucks only and that was the end of that. But yes I would be there FLYIN BRIAN
